Hi Folks, Welcome to Chance Meeting's website!

Thanks for stopping in.

Our story....

Once upon a time Neil Rowley needed a mandolin player.  Having heard of John Hiscox, he gave him a call.  "Would you be interested in playing a song or two at a cabaret at the PAC?    "Sure, sounds like fun, "  John said.

So at a quickly put together rehearsal the next Saturday there were five musicians. The rehearsal lasted about  45 minutes and netted 3 songs.

The performance went very well and the audience, not ever hearing of the band before wanted to know how long the band had been together. Neil looked at his watch and said "well, about 45 minutes."  That was the first, (and the last) performance of the 45-Minute Band.

Fast forward to Fall 2009:  Rowley, Hiscox, Moen and Scotty Friedow were pickin' at the Contented Cow's Tuesday Night Acoustic Jam.  They were batting about the idea of brewing up a band, and knowing they would want a lady singer, they called 45-Minute band singer, Gail Moll. She agreed to join so they set a date for the first rehearsal.  Then they set up a gig at The Contented Cow for a band that did not even exist yet.  Now That's Real Incentive.

Using guitars, mandolins, stand-up bass, acoustic bass guitar, bouzouki, resonator guitar and performing original songs, old rock, older rock, old country, blues, folk, bluegrass and gospel.  The band wanted to do acoustic music that was done well, fun for the audience and not just overwhelmingly loud.  "A Mixed Genre of Not Half Bad Music and Fun" is the official band motto.

They also have a whole set of songs to do for church services, and very much enjoy playing for services and church events.

"Chance Meetings" soon became very popular among Northfield area audiences.  Out of one of those audiences came Steve Shroyer, who joined the band and brought with him his fiddle and a tin whistles.

Since the group all met at jams, sitin-in, cabarets and well "by chance" so to speak, the name "Chance Meetings" just seemed right and was adopted
